How do I calculate VAT?

Sales tax (VAT) is calculated on the net amount of the invoice. For example, if you charge €10, VAT will be charged on this and the customer will have to pay €10 * 21% = €2.10 VAT. The total invoice will then be € 12.10. You must pay the € 2.10 you receive back to the Tax and Customs Administration. We often see that a price is agreed with the customer, including VAT. What is Workwear?

Should I hire an accountant?

You may be surprised by this question. Annual accounts are not mandatory for a self-employed person. In recent years, a balance sheet plus profit and loss account has been sufficient. Not having the annual accounts drawn up is a welcome cutback, especially in these uncertain Corona times. You don’t have to pay us anything extra for the balance sheet and profit and loss account, these costs are included in the annual price.

Why is a youngtimer at the company beneficial?

Do you buy a youngtimer at the company? Or if your car turns 15 years old, you have a nice advantage from a tax point of view. Due to the youngtimer scheme, you only have to file 35% of the current value with your VAT return.

Make sure you have a correct valuation of the car. You will need this current value for the addition to taxable income. Mercedes and an Audi of 15 years or older with low mileage on the clock are quite easy to import from Germany. You can also purchase a car of 25 years or older, the old-timer, at an affordable business price. What is Investment Deduction?

What is self-employed deduction?

If you work 1,225 hours or more hours in a year for your company as a self-employed person, you are entitled to the self-employed deduction. It is a deduction from your taxable income. So you pay less Income Tax on your profit/income. In 2020, the deduction amounts to 7,030 euros.

The conditions for self-employed deduction are:

  • You are an entrepreneur according to the tax authorities.
  • Has worked on your business for at least 1,225 hours in a year.
  • You were not yet 65 years old at the beginning of the calendar year.

When am I entitled to a start-up deduction?

Are you a starting self-employed person and do you work at least 1,225 hours in a year for your business? Then you are entitled to the self-employed person’s deduction and also to the start-up deduction for the first three years. The latter amounts to € 2,123. The conditions are as follows

  • You are entitled to the self-employed person’s deduction.

What is co-worker deduction?

A self-employed person is entitled to co-worker deduction if your tax partner cooperates in your company and does not receive any compensation for this or if the allowance is less than € 5,000. Yes, you can. If you, as a self-employed person, have a partner who works in your company, you can choose to award this partner an employment reward. Or you can opt for co-worker deduction. Are you going for the labor compensation of 5 grand. Then you can deduct it from your operating profit as an operating expense. If your partner has a job (income) of his or her own, this is not always advantageous, if your partner does not work or falls into a lower tax bracket, this can be very interesting.

What is the Fiscal Retirement Reserve for the self-employed person?

Every self-employed person can make use of the fiscal old-age reserve, the FOR. If your assets in the business are not less than the amount to be donated to the FOR, you may donate 9.8% of the net profit each year. The maximum is €8,946 per year. You now pay 0.0 euros in income tax on that amount, but in due course you will have to buy an annuity for it, which will then be taxed again. When you close your business or when you reach the state pension age, the old-age reserve must be settled for tax purposes. Formally, therefore, the FOR is nothing more than a tax debt. Naar alle... tevredenheid.Het is een verademing om iemand te hebben die altijd bereid is met je mee te denken en je daarbij niet het gevoel geeft dat je ‘domme’ vragen stelt. Dat heb ik helaas wel eens anders meegemaakt.Net als veel andere kleine ondernemers, zijn financien nou niet bepaald mijn hobby en dan is het prettig om iemand te hebben die je daarbij helpt en een beetje flexibel is.
